New edition of ‘Birth to 5 Matters’ guidance launched

A new and updated edition of ‘Birth to 5 Matters’, the non-statutory guidance for the early years sector, has been launched by the Early Years Coalition (EYC), a group of organisations working to support early years education.

First published in 2021, ‘Birth to 5 Matters’ was created to help early years educators support children’s learning and development across seven areas of learning and development.

The new second edition has been reviewed and expanded to reflect the latest research, new ideas from practice and changes in society. It includes updated guidance on working with babies, helping children navigate changes in digital technology and supporting them to become advocates for a more sustainable future.
