A new handbook from Eurochild and Terre des hommes highlights how 48 civil society organisations across nine European countries are involving children in violence prevention work.

Produced as part of the EU-funded Daphne-CHILD programme, the handbook brings together a wide range of participation approaches, including co-design, peer education, child-led research, arts-based methods, advocacy and digital engagement. Each project outlines how children were involved throughout the design, delivery and evaluation of the initiative, offering practical examples that can be adapted to different settings and groups of children.

Grounded in the nine principles for meaningful and ethical child participation, the resource is particularly relevant for child protection practitioners, youth workers, educators, social workers, psychologists, policymakers and funders looking for evidence-based approaches to involving children in decisions that affect them.

The handbook also makes it easy to identify examples relevant to specific contexts, including work with children with disabilities, refugee children, Roma children and children affected by conflict.
