Children’s Parliament, the Scottish AI Alliance and The Alan Turing Institute have launched a new teaching resource to help children in P5–P7 learn about Artificial Intelligence (AI) through a children’s rights-based approach.
The resource pack, made up of six lesson plans, was created as part of the “Exploring Children’s Rights and AI” project, which ran from 2022 to 2025 and involved working directly with children and schools across Scotland. With AI already shaping children’s lives in many ways, the lessons aim to help educators introduce the topic in a way that is practical, ethical and age-appropriate.
The content has been developed and tested with the input of both children and teachers and responds to children’s own calls for AI to be part of the curriculum. The resource gives schools tools to explore the impact of AI on children’s lives while keeping their rights at the heart of the conversation.
