This resource supports teachers to equip young people with an understanding of the context of apartheid South Africa, the life of Nelson Mandela and the connections to the Scottish anti-apartheid movement. It also draws links to modern day injustices and racism and helps to develop young people’s capacity to campaign and create speeches.
Lessons are linked to related Sustainable Development Goals and articles from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, to help build learners real world understanding of these.
