Together has responded to the consultation lodged by Jenny Mara MSP on a proposal for new anti-human trafficking legislation for Scotland.

The consultation proposed a raft of measures to improve Scotland's anti-trafficking response, based on EU law that came in to force in April last year and recommendations of the Equality and Human Rights Commission's Inquiry into Human Trafficking in Scotland.

In its response, Together warmly welcomes the consultation on a draft proposal for a Human Trafficking (Scotland) Bill and commended the work of Jenny Marra MSP and her team in putting together such a comprehensive body of work .

Together's response specifically focuses on how the provisions in the draft proposal might be strengthened to ensure a child-rights approach to combating trafficking in Scotland. In producing this response, Together drew from its 2013 State of Children's Rights report which was produced following wide consultation with children's organisations across Scotland.
