Cuba and Mauritius prohibit corporal punishment

Cuba and Mauritius have introduced new progressive legislation banning corporal punishment. This brings the total percentage of children worldwide protected by law from all corporal punishment to approximately 14% of the global child population, according to End Violence Against Children.

Together supports joint statement on UN treaty body system

Together has signed Amnesty’s joint statement on the UN Secretary-General’s fourth biennial report on the status of the treaty body system. This joint statement urges Member States to take practical steps, including ensuring sustainable funding, towards a better co-ordinated review calendar of all state parties’ implementation of their human rights obligations.

Resourcing for the development of the new Human Rights Bill in Scotland

Civil society organisations, including Together, have written a letter to the First Minister asking for more resources which are needed for the development of Scotland’s new Human Rights Bill in order for it to succeed.
