A unique Handbook to help embed children's rights in alternative care provision across the globe has been launched; the first resource of its kind.
The handbook bridges the gap between policy and country-specific procedures that are designed to support the hundreds of thousands of children around the world who do not live with their parents.
It highlights implications for policy-making where national governments should provide leadership as well as examples of what is being done on the ground internationally.
CELCIS was commissioned to develop and publish this implementation Handbook for United Nations' Guidelines, entitled Moving Forward: Implementing the Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children.
It is the first global resource of its kind, and will guide and equip legislators, policy-makers and decision-makers, as well as professionals and care providers in the area of child protection and looked after children.
Three short films are available which introduce the report.
