Pocket Book of Children’s Rights
Date: 18th October 2011
Category: Education, Leisure and Cultural Activities, General measures of implementation
The Pocket Book of Children's Rights uses child friendly language and illustrations to explain the 42 articles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
UNICEF asked children to help them design the Pocket Book and they chose an illustrator to help bring children's rights to life. Children also helped UNICEF make sure that the language they used was as child-friendly and accessible as possible.
The new Pocket Book has been sent to all members of the UK Parliament, the Northern Ireland Assembly, the Scottish Parliament and the Welsh Assembly to raise awareness of the importance of children's rights in the 21st century, and to urge them to do all they can to promote, protect and respect children's rights in all decisions affecting children and young people.
