  • Discovering if human rights are upheld in the UK

    A new report has been shared with the United Nations which sets out the extent to which human rights are being upheld across the UK. This is part of the Universal Periodic Review process – where countries who are part of the United Nations review each other’s progress on putting human rights into practice.

  • Committee on the Rights of the Child welcomes opportunity to submit comments on the draft convention on the right to development

    Since the adoption of the Declaration on the Right to Development 35 years ago, the Committee notes that little progress has been made in clarifying the contents of the right to development.   • Commitment to mainstream children’s rights

    Following calls by Child Rights Connect, the UN Secretary General has expressed agreement that “a holistic child rights perspective must be reinforced across the United Nations system at a global, regional and local level”.   • UN Committee asks UK for update on key children’s rights issues

    The ‘List of Issues Prior to Reporting’ (LOIPR) highlights many of the concerns that Together members raised in our 2020 report to the UN Committee. The LOIPR will form the basis of the UK and devolved governments’ review by the UN Committee in 2022.

  • UK Government gives update on its human rights record

    The UK Government has published its mid-term report as part of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR). The report sets out  what progress the UK has made towards recommendations received in 2017. It includes information provided by Scottish Government.

  • New report - ‘Realising Rights, Changing Lives’

  • Equalities and Human Rights Commission submits report to the UN on children’s rights in Great Britain
