At Together, we believe that key to getting children’s rights right is ensuring that they are at the centre of decision-making from the start. To help ensure this happens, we build the capacity of our members and the duty bearers around children – bringing them together, sharing learning, building confidence and developing practical approaches to tackle the issues affecting children whose rights are most at risk.
Our #RightsOnTrack Communities of Practice are a key part of how we do this. They bring our member organisations together around a shared children's rights issue, creating a space for learning, reflection and collaboration. Through these communities, members exchange experience, explore challenges, strengthen rights-based practice and identify opportunities to influence change.
How #RightsOnTrack works
This means our Communities of Practice are not fixed. We will establish, adapt and retire them in response to the issues that matter most for children’s rights in Scotland, ensuring our work remains responsive, evidence-led and focused on where collective action can have the greatest impact.

Our current Communities of Practice
Child Poverty and Children's Rights
With thanks to The Robertson Trust for their investment, this Community of Practice brings together our member organisations already working to address child poverty and supports them to apply children's rights, including the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024, in their campaigning, policy and practice. Through peer learning, training and collaboration, members strengthen their ability to use children's rights as a tool for accountability and systems change.
Equality, Inclusion and Children’s Rights
With thanks to the Three Guinea’s Trust for their investment, this Community of Practice supports members to understand the interaction between children’s rights and equalities law in a changing legal and policy landscape. It offers peer learning on inclusive, rights-based practice that upholds the rights of all children.
Looking ahead
As Scotland's children's rights landscape evolves, and as we collectively implement the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024, our #RightsOnTrack Communities of Practice will continue to grow and respond to need. By listening to children, analysing evidence and working closely with our members, we will develop new Communities of Practice where they are needed most, helping to keep children's rights firmly on track.
