Parenting Across Scotland has published a new report on the perspective of parents and cares on access to hobbies for children and young people.

Over summer 2025, Parenting Across Scotland engaged with over 570 parents and carers across 30 local authorities in Scotland to find out what they feel helps and hinders participation in hobbies. Despite the benefits of hobbies, access remains unequal across Scotland. This is unacceptable, particularly in light of the incorporation of the UNCRC into Scots law, which upholds a child’s right to play.

The report sets out key findings, conclusions and recommendations on how to raise the profile of hobbies and ensure all children and young people benefit.
