xManifesto for babies in Scotland
Date: 16th February 2026
Category:
Babies and early years
The Parent-Infant Foundation has published a manifesto for the 2026 elections with five recommendations Government should act on to ensure that every baby in Scotland can have the best possible start to life.
This manifesto was created by a coalition of charities, including Together members Starcatchers, Save the Children, Home Start, Parenting Across Scotland, and the NSPCC. It calls for Scottish Parliament candidates to pledge their support, not just by following the manifesto’s policy recommendations but promising to consider babies’ needs and always speak up for them.
The five recommendations set out in the manifesto are:
-
A cross-government strategy to join up policy
-
Provide whole family support
-
Investment in specialist Infant Mental Health services
-
Developing and upskilling the workforce around babies’ rights, their emotional wellbeing and healthy development
-
Keeping the Promise to babies
