We were delighted to launch our Annual Report 2025-26 at our recent AGM. The report reflects on a year of progress, learning and growing confidence in Scotland’s children’s rights journey.
With the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 now in its second year, we are beginning to see what implementation can look like in practice, as organisations across Scotland work to embed children’s rights into policy, practice and decision-making.
Over the past year, we supported our members through training, consultancy, networks, resources and influencing work, helping to build the confidence, knowledge and connections needed to make children’s rights a reality across Scotland.
A particular highlight was the publication of our State of Children’s Rights Report 2026, bringing together almost 60 case studies from 43 organisations. The report showcases the steps being taken to put children’s rights into practice across a wide range of settings. We hope it encourages organisations to learn from and inspire one another.
Alongside this work, we continued to hold decision-makers to account through our #RightsOnTrack campaign, Children’s Rights Manifesto, and collaboration with members and partners across Scotland, the UK and internationally. We have also continued to raise concerns about the limitations in the scope of the UNCRC Act and advocate for stronger protection and accountability for children’s rights.
The year also marked important progress in strengthening access to justice. Through our Rights Empowered partnership with Clan Childlaw, we began supporting members to explore how community action and strategic litigation can help address systemic children’s rights breaches. We have seen growing interest from members seeking not only to understand and apply children’s rights in their work, but also to use legal routes to secure change when rights are not respected.
We thank all our members for their support and energy throughout 2025-26 and look forward to working closely with you in the coming year, towards a Scotland where every baby, child and young person has all of their human rights respected, protected and fulfilled.
