At the request of the UK Government’s Child Poverty Taskforce, Save the Children gathered views from children, families, and local workers as part of its No Limits to Childhood campaign.
Throughout May, Save the Children UK will publish a series of briefings sharing what families believe needs to change in key areas like housing, education, childcare, social security, and community support. They are urging the government to scrap the two-child limit on benefits and the benefits cap, introduce a ‘Child Lock’ to ensure children’s benefits keep pace with inflation or wages, and create a long-term Child Poverty Strategy shaped by real experiences. Save the Children is calling on the UK government to take urgent action to reduce child poverty, as figures hit a record high of 4.5 million children. This number could rise to nearly 5 million by 2030 unless strong action is taken.
