This consultation seeks to gather views on proposed changes to teachers training guidance for those working with children and young people with sensory impairment.

The suggested updates reflect developments in sensory impairment education since 2007 and aim to improve learning outcomes for pupils with these specific learning needs. Key changes being considered include how teachers qualify, the level of language and communication skills required, and the recommended timeframe for gaining the qualification. The consultation invites feedback from the public to help shape the future of specialist teacher training.
