xRights Empowered: Children’s Access to Justice Project
Date: 30th April 2025

Civil Rights and Freedoms

Together and Clan Childlaw are delighted to announce that we are beginning our three-year project, funded through the Human Rights Fund, which will both support the children’s sector to use informal means to challenge decision making and will establish a new collaborative model to use strategic litigation to address systemic UNCRC rights breaches in Scotland.
The work aims to maximise the impact of incorporation of the UNCRC in the lives of all children in Scotland. It will further develop both organisations’ legacies of working to achieve incorporation of the UNCRC and forging the establishment of children’s rights strategic litigation to advance law and policy in Scotland. We are excited to have this opportunity to work together to empower the children’s rights sector to drive systemic change and ensure children’s rights make a positive difference in their lives.
Clan has appointed Rebecca Jaffe as the project’s Legal Policy Manager – she will drive forward the aims of the project, building on both organisations’ ground-breaking work and strong relationships within the children’s sector; supporting Together members to identify and defend children’s rights to empower children to challenge rights breaches by providing routes to access justice to hold duty bearers to account.
