Organisations have called on the European Parliament to adopt a temporary derogation to the ePrivacy Directive. This would allow service providers to resume using certain tools to detect and address child sexual abuse material and instances of grooming.

COVID-19 has led to children spending on more time online, in turn increasing the risk of cyber-enabled abuse.

Eurochild and Missing Children Europe say a temporary derogation aims to reduce the likelihood of children facing online abuse and harm.
