Professor Kirsten Sandberg lecture on incorporating children’s rights now available online

The Moray House School of Education and Sport recently welcomed Professor Kirsten Sandberg to give the School’s Annual Lecture 2020 titled ‘Making Children’s Rights Real: The opportunities of incorporating the Convention on the Rights of the Child’.

Professor Kirsten Sandberg, who is a Professor of Law at the University of Oslo and recent member of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child was joined by; Professor Kay Tisdall, Professor of Childhood Policy at Moray House School of Education and Sport; Professor Richard Andrews, Head of Moray House School of Education and Sport; Mairi Macpherson, Deputy Director for Creating Positive Futures and Scottish Government’s Children and Families Directorate; and Bruce Adamson, Children and Young People’s Commissioner for Scotland.

The lecture outlined the challenges and opportunities of incorporating the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child into Scots law, taking the example of Norway, the lessons, and recommendations for implementation.
