The release looks at NHS Boards’ monthly waiting times for October-December 2019, and shows an increase in the number of children and young people waiting to start treatment.

As at 31st December 2019, there were 10,820 young people waiting to start Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) treatment. This compares to 9,337 in 2018 and 7,620 in 2017. The report highlights that 66.4% of children and young people were seen within 18 weeks, falling short of Scottish Government’s standard of 90%.

Together’s recently published State of Children’s Rights Report 2019 highlights issues including long waiting times and high numbers of rejected referrals.
