Responses to Scottish Government’s consultation on UNCRC incorporation have now been published.

161 responses were received from organisations and individuals. 146 of these  are now available on the Scottish Government website. The independent analysis of the responses is still to be published.

The Minister for Children and Young People, Maree Todd, has responded to the joint letter by Together and 35 of its members in which they called on the Scottish Government to adopt a ‘gold standard’ model for incorporation. In her response, the Minister welcomes Together’s members’ continued support related to UNCRC incorporation and highlights the key role that the Children’s Rights (Scotland) Bill has played in the consultation. The Minister reiterates the Scottish Government’s commitment to incorporating the UNCRC into Scots law before the end of this session of Parliament in 2021 and outlines the Government’s intention to either incorporate the UNCRC directly or by enacting a Scottish suite of children's rights.
