The festival takes place every year and provides a chance for young carers to have a break from their caring role, meet other young carers, take part in consultation and most importantly, have fun.

This year’s festival takes place in Fife from 31st July-2nd August, with an estimated 400 attendees on site for the three day event.

Young carers will participate in activities including circus skills, climbing, creating artwork, inflatable assault courses, science activities, music workshops, using low ropes and caving and silent disco.

Young carers will also have the opportunity to have their voices heard. The Consultation Space will be a warm and welcoming area of the festival allowing young people to anonymously give their views on the most important issues to them, and the ways in which their everyday lives are affected by these issues. They will also meet MSPs and other policy-makers on the second day of the festival, allowing them to put their questions direct to those making the decisions that affect their lives.

This year, another window into the experience of young carers will be provided through the Media Ambassador team. This group of six young carers aged 16-18 have been taking part in media training. At the festival, these young people will be peer interviewing other young carers to raise awareness about young carer issues.
