After a period of evaluation, Scottish Government has updated its Child Rights and Wellbeing Impact Assessment (CRWIA).

The process has been streamlined into three stages and can be used by public bodies and third sector organisations to assess the impact their policies have on children’s rights and wellbeing.

Other updates include:

  • Simplified flowchart.
  • Reduced number of questions.
  • Better clarity around the links between the UNCRC and the Wellbeing Indicators.
  • Revised questions to make specific links to Articles of the UNCRC and the impact on Wellbeing.

This process would be particularly helpful to those public bodies who have a reporting duty under Part 1 Section 2 of the Children & Young People (Scotland) Act 2014.

All of the templates, guidance and the training tool can be found on the Scottish Government Children’s Rights Webpage here.
