Togethers #RightsResolution campaign

Date: 31st January 2018
Category: Wales-specific monitoring and reporting

Thank you to all those who took part in our #RightsResolution campaign! The campaign ran from 15th-19th January and asked those working for public bodies to make a commitment to further children's rights in 2018.

We also asked our members to tweet what #RightsResolutions they would like public bodies to make. We received tweets from public bodies, young people, and third sector organisations calling for progress on a range of children's rights issues, and the campaign also attracted attention from as far away as Australia and the USA! Although we will no longer be tweeting our own #RightsResolution we still encourage any organisation or public body to let us know what their resolution will be to further children's rights in 2018!

Below is a selection of some of the fantastic #RightsResolutions we received during the campaign!

  • Mr Scott's class at Clyde Primary School made a video to raise awareness and understanding of children's rights as part of their #RightsResolution. The Children and Young People's Commissioner for Scotland said it was 'the best (and funniest) summary of the UNCRC he had ever seen.'

  • The Salvesen Mindroom Centre said: We're supporting @together_sacr campaign and would like every individual working in public bodies to raise the level of their understanding of learning difficulties, so that all young people can achieve their potential
  • George Heriot's School said: Our #RightsResolution is to promote gender equality. Next week, S1 pupils will be reading & discussing their rewritten fairy tales with P1 & P2 classes.
  • The Yard said: We would love for local authorities and schools to make it their #RightsResolution for all playgrounds to be made fully accessible and inclusive #inclusiveplay #disability #scotland
  • The Commissioner for Children and Young People in Wales said: 'I will be encouraging public bodies in Wales to put children's rights at the heart of their work.'
