Scottish Government has released the third annual report detailing progress on the youth employment strategy, Developing the Young Workforce.

Developing the Young Workforce, launched in 2014, aims to reduce levels of youth employment by 40% by the year 2021 and to better prepare children and young people for the world of work. The Strategy aims to create work relevant education for young people so that they are equipped with the skills they need to enter the job market.

This year's report states that youth unemployment, excluding those in full-time education, has reduced from 52,000 in 2014 to 27,000 in 2017, thereby achieving the Government target four years ahead of schedule.
