The Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) panel are looking for young people to join the group to make recommendations on projects to help improve Scotland's environment.

The CCF is a Scottish Government grants programme managed and administered by the environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful. The CCF provides funding and support for community groups to tackle climate change through community-led projects that reduce carbon emissions.

The young people, aged 16-26, will work with Young Scot, panel members of all ages, and Keep Scotland Beautiful to make recommendations to the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform on funding applications.

Young Scot and Keep Scotland Beautiful will offer free training and support to help the new panel members.

Derek Robertson, Chief Executive of Keep Scotland Beautiful said, "We want young people to have direct involvement with the Climate Challenge Fund panel. Many young people have a real passion for the environment, which is why I think it is important that they have a say in which projects will affect them their future."

Louise Macdonald, Chief Executive of Young Scot said, "Having young people involved in the climate change panel is a brilliant idea. The panel will be able to draw on the experiences and views of young people to enhance their decision making, and young participants will be able to gain a wide range of experience to help their personal development."

The deadline for applications is 28 August 2017.
