The Year of Young People 2018!

Date: 10th September 2015
Category: Respect for the views of the child

To start the journey towards Scotland's Year of Young People in 2018 which will celebrate Scotland's children and young people locally, nationally and globally, preparations are taking place and are being led by young people.

A steering group of children and young people, supported by Children in Scotland, the Scottish Youth Parliament and Young Scot, will be engaging with Scotland's youth to develop and deliver recommendations to the Scottish Government on what shape the year should take.

Discussion Days will take place across Scotland which will see the group listening to children and young people to hear their hopes and aspirations for the Year of Young People in 2018.

Please register to attend a Discussion Day or be kept up-to-date by adding your details to our newsletter mailing list.

Young Scot, the Scottish Youth Parliament and Children in Scotland have been working to arrange discussion days in 2015, for children and young people to discuss their hopes and aspirations and identify the outcomes which should be achieved in 2018.

A national event will also be held in December which will present the findings of the discussion days and begin to identify conclusions and make recommendations for the Year of Young People.
