xChild rights & access to justice at Human Rights Council 25th session
Date: 4th March 2014
Category:
UK 1st periodic review
The 25th session of the Human Rights Council started in Geneva on 3rd March 2014 and will include the Council's annual day on the rights of the child.
The theme for this year's annual day is "access to justice for children", and the date is set for Thursday 13th March. Access to justice is a human right, and it makes other human rights a reality.
Together will be attending the annual day and has submitted an information paper in advance of the discussion.
The day will start with a discussion of international norms and standards on access to justice for children and child-sensitive justice, followed by an afternoon panel on empowering children to claim their rights.
The concept note contains further details of the annual day of discussion, including the list of speakers.
Child Rights Information Network (CRIN) will be reporting live from Geneva during the week of the annual day (10th - 14th March). CRIN will also publish commentaries and editorials on some of the issues it feels need discussion at the Council, but which are being neglected or ignored.
