Rights of Children and Young People Bill

The Scottish Government has announced a consultation on its proposals to bring forward a Rights of Children and Young People Bill in 2012.

The Bill aims to establish in law the responsibilities of Scottish Ministers with regard to the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) when exercising their functions.

A series of public engagement events are being held for this Bill, and these will also serve as pre-consultation events for the Children's Services Bill which is to be introduced in 2013.

They are taking place on 20 September (Glasgow), 27 September (Edinburgh), 29 September (Dundee), 4 October (Inverness) and 5 October (Glasgow). To register your interest in attending, please click here.
