Circle is delighted to have won SSSC Care Accolade and Scottish 2011 Charity Award. Their work with children and families affected by parental imprisonment was recognised as an innovative example of organisations coming together to promote better outcomes for parents leaving prison and ultimately better outcomes for their children.

'Getting it Right for Every Child' (GIRFEC) is firmly embedded in Circle's practice. This extends to getting it right for families affected by imprisonment where there are substance misuse issues which is a very marginalised group, often forgotten by services, but stigmatised within their communities.

Children affected by imprisonment are not always heard. Circle works hard to ensure they are heard. In line with Article 9 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) which lays out that 'Every child has the right to stay in contact with both parents, unless this might harm them' Circle works hard to maintain that contact by taking the children to visit their parents and help them make sense of any confusion they feel.
