The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child has issued an urgent request to Israel for additional information ahead of its forthcoming review of the country’s children’s rights record. The request for additional information is particularly in light of events since October 7, 2023. Israel is urged to provide updated information on various aspects concerning children's rights by June 15, 2024.

Israel is requested to provide details regarding the number of children killed, injured, or orphaned during the attacks on 7th October, as well as information on children taken as hostages to Gaza. Additionally, measures taken to ensure access to healthcare, trauma-focused mental health services, and temporary relocation for displaced children and families are sought.

Israel is also asked to explain measures ensuring respect for children's rights under the UNCRC and international humanitarian law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Specific inquiries include information on killings and injuries of children, attacks on educational and medical facilities, and allegations of arbitrary detention and ill-treatment of children in Gaza.
