xCommitment to mainstream children’s rights

Reporting to and monitoring the UNCRC
Following calls by Child Rights Connect, the UN Secretary General has expressed agreement that “a holistic child rights perspective must be reinforced across the United Nations system at a global, regional and local level”. Subsequently, a guidance note on mainstreaming children’s rights will be created.
Mainstreaming child rights is an integral part of the human rights-based approach and must take place at all levels, from local to global, and across sectors. Without an effective and systematic application of a child rights approach, some rights could end up being overlooked, partially realised or even violated. Child rights mainstreaming is necessary for the holistic implementation of the UNCRC and as such, we welcome this news.
