In December, Children’s Parliament provided its input to the COVID Education Recovery Group, which leads the national response to the pandemic in the context of the school system. In a new blog post, it reflects on what recovery means from a rights-based perspective.

It points out that forums for children and young people to share their opinions is just one element of a rights-based approach – more is needed. This reflection is based on its How are you doing? survey series. In September, the latest survey highlighted that, although the situation had improved since March, not everything had got better for children and young people. This suggested that  “pre-pandemic some children were already left behind”. Adults - as duty-bearers - should adopt a rights-lens to analyse such problems and find adequate, long-term solutions.
