The Strategy focuses on ensuring children and young people feel able to speak openly and honestly in children’s hearings, that their views are given real weight in the decision-making process and that they feel empowered and have ownership of their rights.

The Strategy was created in collaboration with young people with lived experience of the children’s hearings system, staff and volunteers from Children’s Hearings Scotland and experts in participation and engagement. It is founded on six pillars of inclusion: views, choice, relationships, communication, action and space.

Children’s Hearing Scotland hopes that the Strategy will aid it to keep The Promise.
