Together has submitted its response to the Equalities and Human Rights Committee’s call for views. The new Bill moves us a step closer towards ensuring all children’s human rights are respected, protected and fulfilled across Scotland.

Responding to consultations provides an opportunity for Together to represent the views and experiences of our members and to make recommendations about how draft laws and policies can be improved to further children's rights as set forth in the UNCRC.

Together’s response highlights the broad welcome the Incorporation Bill has received across our membership and welcomes that it responds positively to many calls made by Together’s members during the 2019 consultation. The measures the Bill proposes – when supported by effective implementation - have the potential to provide a world-leading model of UNCRC incorporation.

Together’s response also highlights some areas that require further attention and/or strengthening, including the definition of public authorities, commencement date, child-friendly complaints processes and interpretation.
