The National Autistic Society Scotland is calling on schools to provide personalised transition plans for all autistic children as schools return to in-person learning in August.

The pressures of lockdown and significant change to daily routine have been challenging for many families with autistic children. The charity is concerned that many autistic children will find returning to school difficult.

Therefore, it is calling upon schools to put a personalised transition plan in place for every autistic child. This might include visits prior to school starting, safe spaces and videos showing changes to layouts.
