Connect’s survey asked parents and carers how they felt about their child going back to school or nursery in August, about part-time schooling and about how they are in general.

Connect interim results are as follows:

  • Parents said they want to be consulted on plans for the return to school/nursery.
  • A majority can manage part-time schooling but around 20% said they cannot, for a variety of reasons.
  • Parents of children with additional support needs or families under extreme pressure are still not being contacted or supported.
  • Communication between schools/nurseries and families is, for most parents, going well, but for around 40%, it could be improved or is not going well.
