The virtual briefing allowed for an initial exchange between Permanent Missions to the United Nations, providing them an opportunity to hear directly from children about their experiences, raising awareness of existing guidance on adopting child rights-based responses, sharing examples of national implementation and identifying gaps where further guidance is needed.

Together’s Director, Juliet Harris, gave a presentation on how guidance from the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child was being implemented in Scotland. This built upon an exercise which collated information from across Together’s 400-strong membership, mapping this against the UN Committee’s 11 recommendations to build a snapshot of what is happening in Scotland. Ms Harris also spoke about how Together is working with Scottish Government to guide it in implementing the UN Committee’s guidance.
