The joint letter welcomes Iona Colvin to the post and offers our members’ support and expertise in assisting Scottish Government to secure appropriate rights-based responses to the current pandemic.

Challenges to children’s human rights have become more acute during COVID-19, particularly for children living in poverty, disabled children, young carers, care experienced children and children at risk of harm. In uncertain times like these, the letter notes that legal protections for children’s rights are more important than ever. By working constructively with Scottish Government, Together’s members hope to ensure the full incorporation of the UNCRC into Scots law is realised within the current parliamentary session.  Such a step will ensure that children and young people’s rights are upheld in times of crisis and thereafter.
