The General Teaching Council for Scotland is seeking views on a refreshed set of Professional Standards as well as a new Professional Code (replacing the existing Code of Professionalism and Conduct document, known as COPAC).
The Professional Standards and Professional Code are central documents for teachers, employers of teachers, learners and the wider public. This consultation is therefore relevant to all stakeholders in Scottish education. The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) encourages as many individuals and organisations to respond as possible.
The proposed Professional Standards and Professional Code have been developed in consultation with teachers, head teachers, employer representatives, parental groups university teacher educators. The development of the proposals was also informed by the views of children and young people to ensure that they are relevant and appropriate.
