Reporting to and monitoring the UNCRC
Child Rights Connect (CRC) has published a series of case studies on NGOs’ and National Human Rights Institutions’ activities engaging with specific recommendations of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child.
Through these country level examples CRC seeks to promote a cyclical approach to engaging in the reporting process of the Committee on the Rights of the Child and to encourage NGOs to use the Committee’s recommendations to the fullest in their advocacy work. Each study provides a brief explanation about the activities undertaken and the results:
- Case Study 1: Albania – Promoting Child Participation
- Case Study 2: Australia – Establishment of a National Children’s Commissioner
- Case Study 3: Namibia – Focused Advocacy: Extension of Maternity Leave
- Case Study 4: Nepal – Thematic Study on Child Participation
- Case Study 5: Sierra Leone – Campaign to Develop and Adopt Legislation on Child Sexual Exploitation
- Case Study 6: Sudan – Harmonizing National Legislation
- Case Study 7: Swaziland – Developed and Enacted a Children’s Act
They are available in English and will be soon published in French and Spanish.
