xNew reports map differences in legal minimum ages across the EU

The EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) has published a new set of findings on the differences in legal minimum ages across the EU with the aim of eliminating inconsistencies and lifting arbitrary restricting which result from different age thresholds.
The FRA has mapped the national legal age requirement in various areas across the EU.

The FRA has also published two opinion reports which seek to analyse the most pertinent issues uncovered from the research in the fields of children's rights and justice and asylum and migration.
The findings of the research show the significant differences in minimum ages across EU Member States in different areas and highlight the need for improvement in the way age limits are set in order to achieve consistency and better balance the need to protect children with the need to empower children.
Further findings will be released in the coming months by the FRA, including in the fields of social and economic rights and LGTBI issues.
