Equality Outcomes and Mainstreaming Report 2017

Date: 16th May 2017
Category: Non-discrimination

The Scottish Government's Equality, Third Sector & Communities Division have published an update on how Scottish Government is making progress on incorporating equality across its activities and delivering on the equality outcomes set in April 2013.

The report provides an update on how the Scottish Government is making progress in incorporating equality across its activities, both as a policy maker and as an employer. It provides summary tables of employee information and the gender, disability and race pay gaps.

In 2013, the Scottish Government set a suite of equality outcomes that it expected to make progress towards by 2017. The report describes the activities that are underway around these outcomes and the progress that has been made to date. In addition, it provides a new suite of equality outcomes covering the period 2017-2021.

The report covers a number of areas of the UNCRC in relation to children's rights. In order to reach equality outcomes alongside children's rights, Together advocates for a full national action plan to set out the distinct steps that Scottish Government will take to progress the UN Committee's 2016 Concluding Observations and Part 1 duties under the Children and Young People Act. Such a plan would provide a structure against which children and young people can hold government in meeting their UNCRC rights and equality outcomes.
