The Internet On Our Own Terms: Children and young people on their digital rights

This report, launched at the House of Lords on 31st January, provides insight into the attitudes of a group of young people under 18, invited to interrogate their relationship with the internet and digital technologies.

'The Internet on Our Own Terms' is the culmination of an unusual research project, using actors and fictitious scenarios to promote debate, and the use of iterative juries to find consensus. It was a process designed to put the unmediated voices of children at the heart of the internet debate.

The report was the result of a collaboration between Professor Stephen Coleman and Dr. Kruakae Pothong from the School of Media and Communication, University of Leeds, Dr. Elvira Perez Vallejos and Dr. Ansgar Koene from the Horizon Digital Economy Research Institute, University of Nottingham, with facilitation help from SHM Foundation. It was commissioned by 5Rights and supported by funds from the Nominet Trust and the Horizon.
