Reunite Campaign

Date: 18th May 2016
Category: Family reunification

UNICEF UK have recently launched a campaign to reunite unaccompanied children with family members living in the UK. The campaign asks UK Government to take urgent twofold action.

UNICEF UK are making two asks: to call on the Government to act as promised in expediting existing EU procedures for unaccompanied children in Europe, and also to widen UK immigration rules so that children in Europe and beyond can be reunited with extended family in the UK.

As UNICEF UK state, reuniting children safely and legally with their families would enable the UK to protect children from drowning at sea, suffocating in the back of lorries or being forced into the hands of traffickers and smugglers.
