Call for Comments: Draft General Comment on the implementation of the rights of the child during adolescence

Date: 18th May 2016
Category: General Comments

The Committee on the Rights of the Child is currently elaborating a General Comment on realising the rights of children during adolescence.

The Committee made a call for submissions on the concept note early in 2015, which informed the first draft. Following an expert consultative meeting held in June 2015, a consultative process with adolescents between August and November 2015 and an extensive review by the Committee, a subsequent draft has been developed.

The Committee now invites all interested parties to comment on the current draft of its General Comment. After a thorough and due consideration of inputs provided, the Committee will decide on the contents of the final version.

Requirements - all comments:

  • Should be submitted in one of the official languages of the Committee: English, French or Spanish;
  • Should be in one concise and focused document indicating precisely the paragraphs to which comments are being made and must not exceed 5 pages;
  • Should be submitted electronically in Word format to the following email address: crc@ohchr.org;
  • Will not be translated;
  • Will be posted on the CRC webpage devoted to this draft General Comment.

Deadline: Comments must be submitted by 30th June 2016. No submissions received after this deadline will be considered or posted on the website.
