‘Read On Get On’ campaign petition

In advance of the Scottish Parliament elections in May, the Read On. Get On. Coalition is calling for all political parties to make a manifesto commitment to ensure every child is reading well by the end of primary school, and to make this happen by 2025.

The Read on Get On mission is to make sure that by 2025, every child is a confident reader by the age of 11. Reading well is vital for every child's future; it helps them do better at school and in life.

But nearly one in five children from poorer families in Scotland leaves primary school unable to read well, compared to one in 15 pupils from more affluent families.

The Read on Get on campaign aims to bring everyone together - parents, grandparents, nursery staff and teachers, businesses, celebrities, media and the government to make this happen.

Committing to this goal would publicly demonstrate that ambitious and decisive action is being taken to boost the life chances of thousands of children living in poverty in Scotland. You can show your support for the campaign via this petition.
