National campaign on child sexual exploitation launched

Date: 2nd February 2016
Category: Children in situations of exploitation

'CSE - The Signs' was launched on 28th January 2016 to raise awareness of the risks and warning signs of child sexual exploitation (CSE) and is centred on a new interactive website.

The website is directed towards both young people and parents to offer advice on what to look out for and how to stay safe, and the support available. It outlines how child sexual exploitation happens and how adults can best keep children safe from harm.

The Scottish Government published a National Action Plan to tackle child sexual exploitation in 2014, and guidance has been issued to police officers and staff to ensure a consistent response to children who may be vulnerable to child sexual exploitation. Within the Action Plan was an action to explore options for a public awareness campaign to increase awareness of CSE among the general public.
