Year of Young People update

Date: 27th October 2015
Category: Awareness-raising, General principles

The second event in a series that will help shape the Year of Young People 2018 was held in Perth on the 1st October. Attended by over 50 young people and 25 stakeholders, the discussions continued the journey along the road the Year of Young People.

During the event, young people and stakeholders from across Tayside shared their views on how best to celebrate young Scots, nationally and globally, in 2018. Discussions surrounded what they think the Year of Young People should look like, their hopes and aims for the project, and their 'Big Idea' for 2018.Using a wide variety of interactive resources - including electronic voting and a photo booth - the attendees made great progress designing and shaping their ideas for 2018.

There were also lots of extra discussion on social media using #YOYP. Organisers want the hashtag to be active all the way to 2018 itself so, whether you are attending an event, or can't make it but want to get involved, anyone can use social media to keep the conversation active.

The next Year of Young People event, which will be the penultimate Discussion Day will take place on Tuesday 10th November at Aberdeen's Elphinstone Hall.

The final event in this series will be a national Discussion Day to pull together all the information and insights gathered over the course of the last few months. This is happening on Wednesday 2 December at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh
