Mental Health (Scotland) Bill: call for written evidence

The Health and Sport Committee has launched a call for written evidence in order to inform its consideration of the Mental Health (Scotland) Bill.

The Bill was introduced in the Scottish Parliament on 19th June 2014. The overarching objective of the Bill is stated in the policy memorandum as: to help people with a mental disorder to access effective treatment quickly and easily.

Together responded to the initial consultation on the draft Mental Health (Scotland) Bill, with key points including undertaking a Child Rights Impact Assessment on the proposals; consideration of children and young people and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC); CAMHS services; a preventative approach and children with parents affected by mental health problems.

The Health and Sport Committee launched the call for written evidence in order to inform its consideration of the Mental Health (Scotland) Bill on 27th June 2014 and the deadline is Friday 22nd August 2014.

The Committee anticipates taking oral evidence in towards the end of 2014.
