European Parliament elections 2014: Child Rights Manifesto re-launched

Date: 24th March 2014
Category: UK 1st periodic review

The Child Rights Manifesto calls on candidates of the European Parliament to become 'Child Rights Champions' to take concrete steps to champion child rights in the European Parliament.

The Manifesto recalls the vision for realising the rights of every child, everywhere; and gives recommendations what Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) can do for children in Europe and the world.

A number of children's charities including Eurochild see the European Parliament elections (to be held late May 2014) as an opportunity to gather increased political commitment to promote children's rights and well-being from the political spectrum, both at national and European level.

The Child Rights Manifesto has been developed by 14 European and international child rights networks.
